Before and After dramatic DIY Kitchen transformation

Before and After dramatic DIY Kitchen transformation

Many homeowners dream of changing their kitchen. There are various reasons ranging from poor functionality, change of trend, purchasing or selling a home. In fact, according to the 2018 Houzz Kitchen Trends Study 37% of people who renovated their kitchen was because they “can no longer stand the old kitchen”.

This diy kitchen before and after displays exactly the points above.

The transformation from wood to white allows for an instant modern update whilst also creating a brighter open space that is now a welcoming invite to cook up a storm. This type of renovation is not uncommon – many switching from wooden cabinetry to white. In fact, white kitchens are the most common and will allow for longevity and in this case will attract a larger audience when auction day comes around.

Before DIY Kitchen Renovation

The kitchen flow was inconsistent with the working triangle. The fridge was quite a distance from the hotplate as was any bench space.

After DIY Kitchen Renovation

By removing the bulky range hood directly next to the window more light now filters into the kitchen space creating a brighter more inviting cooking environment.  The hotplate having now also moved under the rangehood gives the kitchen a more balanced look and with benchtop either side allows a better functionality.

The access from hotplate to deeper double sink is within easy reach and similarly the pantry next to the double ovens creates easy access from food storage to heating.  The use of a lazy susan in the corner cupboard also allows for better storage solution without wasting valuable space in the kitchen.

Cabinets: Carrington Antique White
Benchtops: YDL Spring White
Handles: Flared bow handle
