European trends for kitchens

EuroCucina displayed recent kitchen designs during Design Week in Milan.  Since the beginning of this worldwide exhibition first created in 1974, trends are set for future designs of kitchens.  Most of the exhibitors are showcasing prototypes providing the trend and inspiration for manufacturing future.  Needless to say it was of the highest standard and produced some outstanding finishes.  The Directors of Smart Kitchen were on hand to see the kitchens in full view and included leading European companies such as Nobilia, Poliform, Gaggenau to name a few.  The quality and design layouts were inspirational as always at EuroCucina.

The quality was inspirational with most kitchens dominating as “handless”, not the push to open style but more a hand pull that is hidden at the back of the top of the cupboard, or a slope type door for easy hand access.  The soft closing feature is still prevalent ensuring a quiet closing of doors in the kitchen.  And while all these features are impressive the spaces within the kitchen design were even more enthralling.  Kitchens displayed a variety of finishes like white with timber, timber and grey, concrete and timber to name a few. White gloss kitchens mixed with timber tops or open style cupboards were a popular feature.  All designed spaces were inspirational in finishes, functionality and storage and were of top quality as you would expect from world leaders.

The leaders also displayed top styling ideas from brass taps and lighting to an introduction of more greenery in the kitchen like this kitchen bringing the outside in!  ‘Concrete look’ styling was also popular, perfect for that modified warehouse apartment.

2016 EuroCucina was filled with wonderful kitchen design spaces capturing on the social kitchen being very much the view to the future and will provide inspiration for future new products – stay tuned!
