Benchtops are the biggest canvases in a kitchen and lend themselves wonderfully to hard-wearing natural materials like timber or timber laminates or even lookalike concrete finishes (like stone). For smaller rooms, you should also look at lighter tones, so as not to lose the perception of space, or a combination of the two.
Colour Accents
While feature walls were a staple of the mid-2000’s living spaces, they have faded from prominence. But the re-emergence of colour is a clear trend for 2020.
While the all white kitchen will never go out of style and still the most popular, combinations of bold colours in matte such as navy, greens, or darker greys are all in fashion. To offset the effects of dark colours, make use of as much natural light as you can get, or consider downlights. If you are not comfortable going all out colour, a growing trend is two toned kitchens, here you might combine colour like grey with a contrasting colour, like timber laminate.
